Hakuba is home to hundreds of local restaurants with a huge range in food and atmosphere. Many of the restaurants offer unique summer menus with an outdoor, pet friendly environment. Here’s our list of Hakubas best restaurants for outdoor dining to enjoy the sun in the fresh mountain air.
The Grill, alongside the Clubhouse Café and Bar offers a fantastic summer menu with high quality and healthy cuisine. Enjoy a range of fresh salads, pasta of your choice or premium cut of locally sourced meat, while sitting under the sakura trees in a comfortable piazza style environment.

Blizzard’s woodfire oven, barista made coffee and traditional italian menu make it an ideal place to dine in the summertime. Located just at the base of the Happo-One Gondola and with large mountain facing windows, Blizzard offers a refreshing indoor/outdoor feel.
Cantina offers a fun and friendly environment for you to enjoy a coffee or beer while chowing down on some freshly made Mexican food. Cantina’s menu is prepared and prepared in-house, including their handmade tortillas, and habanero hot wings. Feel free to soak up the sun on the large outdoor deck, while you choose from a vast range of condiments to spice up your dining experience.
Sounds Like Café is a funky spot to grab a slice of cake with your coffee. Their menu is vegetarian friendly, and includes a range of burgers, and deserts all made in-house. Hang-out out and enjoy the fresh street facing decking area while relaxing in central Eco-land.
Commonly known as the dog café, Forest Garden Seasha is a very pet friendly, natural place for you to enjoy nature with your meal. Their menu ranges from hotdogs to ramen, includes lots of snacks and deserts, and a decent selection of craft beer. Surrounded by Hakuba forest, Forest Garden Seasha has created a relaxing camping-like environment with spacious seating areas and hammocks swinging in the shade.
Luce by Arisue Spice offers a range of fresh homemade curries and salad, made better by their friendly staff. Many of their vegetables, herbs and spices for their menu are grown organically in their garden on-site, and locally sourced. Luce is also very dog friendly and has a nice outdoor seating arrangement with stunning views of Happo-one.
If you love noodles, gyoza and beer, look no further. Takahashike has a cool, local feel with the menu to match. With a selection of different styles of noodles and a range of gyoza they’ll surely have a flavor for you. Slurp down their Spicy tan tan ramen on the front deck while taking-in the views of Mt Goryu.
Looking for a traditional Japanese experience? Kappa Tei is the place for you. Kappa Tei offers a fantastic summer only with unique Japanese set menus for you to enjoy in their traditional style country house. Located next to Ooide park, peppered with water features and natural features, it’s impossible to feel uncomfortable in their stress free environment.
Sanfermo Pizza et BBQ offers a high quality Italian menu with locally sourced ingredients. The outdoor seating area and fire pit surrounded by Misorano woods is the perfect place to enjoy pizza this summer.
Just a short ride up Iwatake gondola, the sky-deck at The City Bakery offers stunning views of the entire Hakuba valley. Enjoy freshly baked goods and sandwiches at the top of Iwatake resort, while breathing in the fresh mountain air.
