About the Event: Experience one of Hakuba’s most unique cultural traditions deep within the mountains! The Hosono Suwa Shrine Autumn Festival celebrates the connection between local generation-spanning communities and the powerful earth elements of the region. The grand highlight of this district-wide community gathering is the parading of the legendary Rock Omikoshi—a massive 370kg portable shrine hand-carved out of local serpentinite stone sourced directly from the hot springs of Hakuba Happo Onsen.

The festival brings together young parishoners who carry the heavy stone shrine through the vibrant streets of both districts heading toward the main shrine to express gratitude for the rich blessings of the mountain gods. Along the way, cheering onlookers and fellow community members drench both the omikoshi and its bearers by throwing hot spring water onto them. First established in its modern form in 2002 to revive historic traditions, this captivating ritual of showering Earth's miracle water onto native mountain stone creates an unforgettable, lively spectacle you won't want to miss this September.

細野諏訪神社 例大祭 ＆ 温泉みこし祭り 2026年9月23日（水・祝）｜9:00～｜白馬村 八方・八方口地区

イベントについて: 「細野諏訪神社 例大祭（秋祭り）」は、代々受け継がれてきた地域の絆と、白馬の豊かな大自然への感謝を込めて開催される、伝統的かつ極めてユニークな文化祭りです。このお祭りの最大のハイライトは、地元の白馬八方温泉の源泉地から切り出された、重さ370kgにも及ぶ蛇紋岩（じゃもんがん）で作られた特製の「石みこし」の巡行です。

地元の若い氏子たちがこの巨大な石みこしを担ぎ、山の神々からの豊かな恵みに感謝を捧げながら八方・八方口の街並みを練り歩き、本殿を目指します。沿道では、地域住民や観客たちが担ぎ手と石みこしに向けて、勢いよく八方温泉の湯を浴びせかける「温泉シャワー」が行われ、街全体が熱気に包まれます。2002年に古き良き伝統の復興を目指して始まったこの特別な神事は、白馬ならではのアウトドア・カルチャーと歴史的な信仰が融合した、見どころ満載の秋祭りです。
